Project
PickFix · Senior Capstone
PickFix was my senior capstone project at UNC Charlotte — a full stack cloud-based ticketing system built on AWS. The premise was straightforward: a business needed a way to create, assign, and track support tickets across their team without relying on a third-party platform.
I came in as the project lead, which meant I was less focused on writing code day-to-day and more focused on making sure the team had what they needed to move. That included running weekly meetings, writing user stories, and managing sprint planning so we stayed on track each week and weren't scrambling at the end of the semester.
On the technical side I contributed to QA testing and helped with the AWS implementation. The stack included Lambda for serverless functions, EC2 for compute, S3 for file storage, CloudFront for content delivery, and a relational database on the backend. Getting everything to talk to each other correctly took some troubleshooting, but it was a good introduction to how a cloud-hosted full stack application actually fits together.
At the end of the semester I presented the live demo to classmates, TAs, and our professor. I walked through the features, the implementation decisions we made along the way, and the business use case behind it. Having to explain the technical decisions clearly to a mixed audience — some technical, some not — was a useful exercise on its own.
It was one of the more complete projects I worked on in school in terms of going from idea to a working deployed product. Leading it also gave me a better sense of where things tend to fall apart on a team project and what actually keeps things moving.
